The strain exhibited 99.6% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity toR. rathayi, R. iranicus and R. tritici, while the concordant results from MALDI-TOF mass spectra clustering and multilocus phylogenetic analysis (gyrB, recA, rpoB and ppk) suggest that it represents a novel species, provisionally named "Rathayibacter tanaceti".
