Here we present the genome of Mariprofundus micogutta strain CP-5. Isolated from the oxic-anoxic transition zone of the Chesapeake Bay during seasonal stratification, this chemolithoautotroph produces bundles of iron-oxide dread structures, and is novel for its planktonic lifestyle.
