SAMN06314862 Deinococcus ficus CC-FR2-10 Deinococcus ficus Deinococcus ficus CC-FR2-10 is a pale-pink strain isolated from the rhizosphere of the sacred tree Ficus religiosa L. in Taiwan. The cells were Gram-positive, rod-shaped and non-spore-forming. 16S rDNA phylogenetic analysis indicated that the organism belongs to the genus Deinococcus. The DNA-DNA hybridization experiments clearly indicated that CC-FR2-10 represents a distinct species among the genus Deinococcus. The biochemical and chemotaxonomic properties demonstrate that strain CC-FR2-10 represents a novel species, for which the name Deinococcus ficus sp. nov. is proposed.
