The species is currently (as of 2022) unique among the Chloroflexota phylum in its use of a Type I photosynthetic reaction center (RCI) to perform light energy conversion. Here, we picked a single, isolated colony of "Ca. Chx. allophototropha" from a non-axenic enrichment culture (subculture 19.9) and extracted its DNA. Based on 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing, only sequences of "Ca. Chx. allophototropha" were detectable in the sample (to a detection limit of ~0.03% relative abundance). Given that the sample was dominated by "Ca. Chx. allophototropha", we used the DNA from this sample to obtain the genome of "Ca. Chx. allophototropha".</Paragraph> <Paragraph>Keywords: GSC:MIxS;MIGS:6.0</Paragraph> </Comment> </Description> <Owner> <Name url="http://uwaterloo.ca/">University of Waterloo</Name> <Contacts> <Contact> <Name> <First>Jackson</First> <Last>Tsuji</Last> <Middle>Makoto</Middle> </Name> </Contact> </Contacts> </Owner> <Models> <Model>MIGS.ba</Model> <Model>MIGS/MIMS/MIMARKS.water</Model> </Models> <Package display_name="MIGS: cultured bacteria/archaea, water; version 6.0">MIGS.ba.water.6.0</Package> <Attributes> <Attribute attribute_name="collection_date" harmonized_name="collection_date" display_name="collection date">2017-09</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="depth" harmonized_name="depth" display_name="depth">3.88 m</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="env_broad_scale" harmonized_name="env_broad_scale" display_name="broad-scale environmental context">small freshwater lake biome [ENVO_00000892]</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="env_local_scale" harmonized_name="env_local_scale" display_name="local-scale environmental context">freshwater environment [ENVO_01000306]</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="env_medium" harmonized_name="env_medium" display_name="environmental medium">anoxic water [ENVO_01000173]|fresh water [ENVO_00002011]</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="geo_loc_name" harmonized_name="geo_loc_name" display_name="geographic location">Canada: near Kenora, Ontario, Lake 227, IISD-Experimental Lakes Area</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="isol_growth_condt" harmonized_name="isol_growth_condt" display_name="isolation and growth condition">https://doi.org/10.1101/2020.07.07.190934</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="lat_lon" harmonized_name="lat_lon" display_name="latitude and longitude">49.69 N 93.69 W</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="num_replicons" harmonized_name="num_replicons" display_name="number of replicons">5</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="ref_biomaterial" harmonized_name="ref_biomaterial" display_name="reference for biomaterial">https://doi.org/10.1101/2020.07.07.190934</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="isolation_source" harmonized_name="isolation_source" display_name="isolation source">Single colony of Candidatus Chlorohelix allophototropha from a non-axenic enrichment (subculture 19.9); enrichment culture was started from water from the upper anoxic zone (3.88 m depth) of an iron-rich Boreal Shield lake</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="type-material">reference material of Candidatus Chlorohelix allophototropha</Attribute> <Attribute attribute_name="isolate" harmonized_name="isolate" display_name="isolate">L227-S17</Attribute> </Attributes> <Links> <Link type="entrez" target="bioproject" label="PRJNA909349">909349</Link> </Links> <Status status="live" when="2022-12-08T13:47:30.625"/> </BioSample> </BioSampleSet>
